Legend goes that I've been a teacher since I was two years old - scribbling on a chalkboard while mom, dad and big sister acted like students.

 

College earned me the role of First Grade teacher and a quick trip through graduate school landed me with a masters in Reading and Literacy (somehow I needed to teach those kiddos how to read!).

Staying home with my first baby had me stir crazy, so I opened up a baby boutique, crafting all the wares and shipping them world-wide on a new site called Etsy.

After a move cross-country back home near grandmas and grandpas, I found myself decorating our new home and simultaneously entertaining new friends. It was them who helped me see I had an eye for design.

fig & farm (at home) was born as a way to share practical do it yourself decorating tips with REAL moms so they can start loving their REAL homes!
